‘Aggressive’ toilet sign at ANZ bank’s global headquarters slamming ‘disgusting and shameful’ women sparks uproar: ‘If using a toilet is something new for you…’

A sign slamming female staff over ‘accidents’, described as ‘disgusting’, allegedly placed in a toilet at ANZ’s global headquarters in Melbourne has sparked uproar.

The sign, posted by Instagram page ‘theaussiecorporate’, claims a ‘few ladies’ had the ‘accidents’ while using the facilities, ‘leaving their mess for someone else to clean up’.

The note states that the toilets are cleaned and disinfected daily, but says what was allegedly being left behind is unacceptable for the cleaning team to deal with.

‘What the cleaning team have to endure is disgusting, shameful and unhygienic,’ the sign says.

It adds, ‘Some people may have their own ideas about what is acceptable and what is not, but this is a 6-star building and we won’t accept 1-star behaviours.’

The sign also warns it would be possible to determine who is responsible.

‘We have CCTV outside the entrances to the changerooms, and with the hourly inspections we are completing, it is easy to determine who the individuals are.’

It goes on to claim management ‘currently have names’ of some alleged offenders and threatens to report them.

‘If we detect ANZ staff conducting themselves in such a way or damaging this facility, we will report the behaviour internally.’

Staff and visitors are also urged to report anyone displaying poor behaviour in the changerooms.

‘If you see anything like this, or any other poor behaviour in this changeroom, please report immediately so we can catch and immediately cancel the memberships of any offenders,’ the sign says.

It finishes by saying, ‘If using a toilet is something new for you and you need some help, let us know, maybe we can do some training with you’.

The sign was posted to the ‘theaussiecorporate’ Instagram story yesterday, along with a comment reading ‘love how aggressive it is’.

An anonymous message sent to the page from a user who claimed they had worked at the building ‘for more than a year’ said there had been ‘many ghastly incidents’ which had ‘scarred’ the cleaners, labelling them as ‘poor souls’.

The Daily Mail has contacted ANZ for comment.
