Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes have perfect chemistry. 

And they put that chemistry on public display when the Project Hail Mary star surprised Eva with birthday well wishes during his visit to The Tonight Show. Eva joining Ryan onstage marked the pair’s first official, joint public appearance in over a decade.

“Now here’s the thing,” Ryan—who shares daughters Esmeralda, 11, and Amada, 9, with Eva—quipped. “You might find me in the Hudson River tomorrow.”

But despite the pair’s proclivity to stay out of the spotlight, Eva nevertheless took the stage and held Ryan’s hand as he, Jimmy Fallon and the audience sang “Happy Birthday,” led by a high school marching band. Making sure credit was given where due, Jimmy made sure Eva knew the surprise was all thanks to her partner in crime.

Eva—who has been with Ryan since 2011 and began referring to him as her “husband” in 2022, though they’ve never confirmed if they tied the knot—showed off a little PDA as she sweetly kissed him.
