No One is Listening

By Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter

When no one is listening, they are sending a signal. You may interpret that signal as, “no one cares.”

Why don’t they care? Maybe it’s because leadership is acting like management.

Maybe the staff feels uninspired.

Maybe they feel betrayed by leadership.

Maybe they care as much and don’t think you do.

Maybe you are not speaking their language.

Whatever the reason is, the job of a leader is to lead. Without followers, you are not a leader. That doesn’t mean that everyone agrees with you. This agreement offers an opportunity to sort ideas out for the greater good.

Negotiating ideas does not mean capitulating. It is looking for the greater good.

I wish our politicians did that.

Our business leaders do.
