Clean the Sky – Lithium-Ion Graphite Anodes

Clean the Sky - Positive Eco Trends & Breakthroughs

Sweden-based company Talga Group has introduced the Talnode-R graphite anode, made from recycled lithium-ion battery waste. Using a hydrometallurgical process, the anode matches the performance of synthetic graphite while complementing Talga’s natural graphite production. This effort aims to reduce the amount of graphite being overlooked by recyclers.

The new product recovers graphite from gigafactory scrap and retired electric vehicle batteries, helping strengthen the battery supply chain. With China leading the charge and a looming graphite shortage expected over the next decade, it also contributes to Europe’s goal of self-sufficiency in critical materials.

In addition, Talga plans to advance its Nunasvaara South graphite mine project in northern Sweden, further securing its supply of high-quality graphite for future demand.
