The Carrington Training Complex has undergone a full £50 million renovation led by Foster + Partners to modernize Manchester United’s men’s first-team training base. Designed with input from players and staff, the upgrade enhances fitness, nutrition, recovery, and wellness infrastructure while fostering daily collaboration. The project also redeployed executive leadership on-site, reinforcing Carrington as the club’s central hub. The design prioritizes open-plan layouts and an abundance of natural light to create a bright, motivating environment for training and recovery.
Key additions include advanced recovery areas with hydrotherapy and cryotherapy facilities, altitude training rooms, and smart hydration monitoring. Amenities such as a barbershop, Formula 1 simulator, and dedicated social spaces further support player wellbeing. Circulation flows have been reimagined to guide athletes smoothly from changing to training to recovery. Completed on time and within budget, the complex now stands as a world-class environment built for performance and unity.
