Twinkima.G – The Next Rising Star in Chinese Handwelted Shoes

When it comes to discovering the next big name in shoemaking, I always keep my eyes open for fresh talent, and recently, one name has caught my attention — Twinkima.G. Based in China, this rising shoemaker is producing shoes that easily rival the quality of well-known European brands. Today, we look at Twinkima.G’s handwelted shoes in my latest unboxing video.

Twinkima.G’s work blends traditional hand welted construction with distinctive designs that make each pair stand out. For those unfamiliar, “hand welted” means the welt — the strip of leather connecting the upper to the sole — is stitched entirely by hand. This method, often written as handwelted, is time-intensive and requires a high level of skill, but results in shoes that are both durable and long-lasting.

Discovering Twinkimg.G shoes

I first came across Twinkima.G at our London Super Trunk Show. In my ongoing search for great craftsmanship, while also exploring the growing world of Chinese shoemaking, they were a perfect find. Over the last decade, China has gone from producing primarily mass-market footwear to becoming home to some of the finest artisan shoemakers in the industry. Twinkima.G is one of those brands leading this transformation, blending traditional techniques with a contemporary design sensibility.

The Shoes I Reviewed

In my latest video review, I highlighted Twinkima.G’s lazyman Brogues — a hybrid style that combines the look of a brogue with the convenience of an elasticated slip-on. These are not your average “lazy man” shoes; the design is elegant, the brogue detailing is sharp, and the proportions are spot-on.

The leather quality is exceptional for the price point — supple, with a deep, rich finish that promises to age beautifully. The hand welted construction ensures the shoes are built to last, and the craftsmanship is evident in every stitch and seam.

Craftsmanship That Rivals the Best

What impressed me most about Twinkima.G is the attention to detail. The waist of the sole is clean and sculpted, the finishing is refined, and the upper stitching is precise. These are the kind of touches you usually only see from higher-end makers charging double or triple the price.

It’s clear the team at Twinkima.G takes pride in their work, balancing artisanal shoemaking techniques with designs that appeal to modern tastes. The one pattern I notice about Chinese shoemakers, is that many of them focus on chisel lasts, and the classic round last is quite uncommon. Even the almond last is not as prevalent. Let’s hope this changes.

Why You Should Pay Attention

The market for high-quality, hand welted shoes from China is growing fast, and Twinkima.G handwelted shoes are proving that excellent craftsmanship doesn’t have to come with a sky-high price tag. If they continue producing at this level, I have no doubt they’ll become a significant name in the industry in the next few years.
