Coastal-Inspired Home Interiors : casa puerto

Casa Puerto by Lucas y Hernández-Gil transforms a 1980s apartment into a serene, coastal-inspired home using tactile finishes and layered color. Located in Cádiz, Spain, the renovated interior was guided by the client’s request for a light, organic atmosphere.

To achieve this, the studio opened up the layout, introduced curved walls, and selected finishes that reflect the colors and textures of the surrounding seaside. Neutral-toned terrazzo, natural wood, microcement, and ceramic tiles contribute to a handmade feel, while curved built-ins, arched thresholds, and rounded furnishings soften the geometric structure of the original plan.

Pale pinks, sandy beiges, sea greens, and coral hues echo the palette of local landscapes, grounding the space in its environment without resorting to cliché. The studio also redesigned the furniture and lighting specifically for the project, creating a cohesive and bespoke language throughout. Casa Puerto feels both deeply personal and quietly luxurious—a subtle, expressive example of regional modernism.
