St. Lawrence Market North officially opens in Toronto, marking a modern architectural chapter for the historic market district. Designed by RSHP in collaboration with Adamson Associates, the new building replaces a 1960s structure and integrates a civic precinct with expanded space for vendors, public amenities, and city services. The transparent steel-and-glass design connects visually with the surrounding urban fabric while creating a contemporary identity rooted in civic engagement.

The project combines tradition and innovation through multi-functional spaces, including market stalls, a public atrium, and a new court facility. At its heart, St. Lawrence Market North honors the cultural legacy of its namesake while reinterpreting it with bold design and efficient planning. Natural light, open circulation, and sustainability considerations frame the experience. This new hub serves as both a public gathering space and a testament to thoughtful urban renewal in one of Toronto’s most storied neighborhoods.
