Is It Rude to Ask an Interviewer How Many Other People They’re Considering?

When it comes to networking on LinkedIn, having more connections is better than fewer. I’m Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter. People hire me for no BS job search coaching and career advice globally because I make the process of finding work and succeeding at it much easier.

Now, for many of you, you’ve got a few hundred connections, clearly under 500. For me, I’ve been around for a long time, and although I didn’t connect with recruiters on LinkedIn because I did recruiting and I didn’t want to help my competition, I still have over 30,000 first-level connections. The more connections you have, the more networking you can do. Why? Because those connections lead to second-level connections as well. The statistics are often that you need to get out not just simply to the first-level people, but the second-level people in order to find an introduction to an organization that you want to get entry to.

So, get more connections on LinkedIn. In the interim, join large groups because you can message people in the group through LinkedIn and LinkedIn messaging without having to pay for access to them. So get more connections, join groups, particularly those with large memberships in your field, and start connecting with folks. I have a lot more information to help you at jobsearch.community.
