Two British tourists found dead in hotel in Morocco as probe launched into tragic discovery

An investigation has been launched after two British tourists were found dead in a hotel room in Morocco.

The bodies were discovered on Monday morning in a luxury resort in Agadir, a popular coastal holiday destination in southwestern Morocco.

It was also reported that two other holidaymakers were rushed to hospital from the same hotel, in critical condition.

A probe has since been launched into the deaths, with the name of the hotel and the identity of those deceased still unknown.

Police and forensics rushed to the scene on Monday to examine the hotel room.

An autopsy has since been ordered to determine the cause of death.

A spokesperson for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said: ‘We are aware of the deaths of two British nationals in Morocco.

‘We are supporting their families and are in contact with the local authorities.’

The deaths come just weeks after another British tourist was found dead in similar circumstances in the city of Agadir.

Clare Mitchell, 31, was discovered dead in her hotel room in the coastal city on October 9.

The accounts manager from Bolton had flown out from Manchester Airport the day before for a four-day holiday.

Ms Mitchell had recently returned to university to study accountancy. Her family described her as ‘the most unique person’ who ‘lived life to the full’, the Sun reported.

Now, they are raising funds to repatriate her back to the UK.
