Charlie Vickers has spent two seasons turning Sauron into Middle-earth’s most terrifying jewelry enthusiast. Now Prime Video’s The Rings of Power is handing its Dark Lord the ultimate DIY assignment: forge the One Ring inside Mount Doom, preferably without setting the entire continent on fire.
Tolkien’s infamous golden troublemaker can dominate the other Rings of Power, making it the centerpiece of Sauron’s plan to control Middle-earth. Season 3 promises to bring that legendary creation to television
And Vickers discovered that playing an immortal sorcerer does absolutely nothing for one’s stamina around a blazing forge.
Charlie Vickers recalls his intense experience forging the One Ring
Speaking about the forging sequence, Charlie Vickers described battling punishing heat, roaring wind effects, and repeated hammer strikes. In the interview account attributed to ScreenRant, he said he worked through around five hammers and struck his hand inside the costume’s gauntlets.
“It was very intense,” he recalled, while calling the finished experience rewarding.

The centerpiece occupied two weeks of filming. In Empire, Vickers explained that the lengthy scene relies heavily on physical performance, with pages of script containing almost no dialogue. Co-showrunner Patrick McKay described the forging as the show’s most technically demanding achievement.
His team constructed an enormous Mount Doom environment, turning the villain’s workshop into a threatening, lava-lit beast. Sauron may be building the ultimate weapon, but the actor behind that sinister armor has already survived a fairly spectacular boss battle.
And that ring is only the opening move in Middle-earth’s approaching nightmare.
The Rings of Power Season 3 unleashes a darker Middle-earth
Five years after the fall of Eregion, Middle-earth is deep into the War of the Elves and Sauron. The Dark Lord’s forces are spreading, and Galadriel, Elrond, and their allies face a continent-sized disaster with remarkably little time for tea. Morfydd Clark and Robert Aramayo return as Galadriel and Elrond, alongside Charlie Vickers.

Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power Season 3
Jamie Campbell Bower, familiar from Stranger Things, joins as Celeborn, Galadriel’s long-absent husband. His arrival threatens to complicate an already combustible landscape. Simon Pegg voices the Balrog, because apparently the creature also needed a formidable vocal résumé.
Prime Video premieres the first four episodes on November 11, 2026. Two additional episodes arrive November 18, followed by the final pair November 25. The One Ring’s forging is set to be the season’s centerpiece, connecting Sauron’s rise with the catastrophe awaiting Middle-earth in The Lord of the Rings.
Will Vickers’ Mount Doom sequence become the show’s defining moment? Let us know in the comments.
