7 movies I can’t wait to watch this month on Prime Video

Now that the Halloween season has passed, Prime Video is adding a whole new batch of films this November. Like every other streaming platform, Prime Video expands its movie selection at the start of every month. Though it’s not December yet, Amazon is rolling out several holiday-themed movies to its streaming library to celebrate the Christmas season.

Prime Video’s festive titles include Jingle All the Way, A Christmas Carol, Bad Santa, and A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas. If you’re not ready to watch any holiday movies yet, you can also check out plenty of other classic movies and Amazon Originals coming to the platform. While there are dozens of new films on Prime Video, here’s are seven titles that should be on everyone’s watchlist this November.

Amazon Prime Video is the commerce giant’s contribution to the streaming world. Featuring movies and TV shows across a variety of genres as well as its own original content, there’s always something to watch.

Annie Hall

Woody Allen and Diane Keaton lead an iconic comedy

While Woody Allen continues to be a controversial figure, his movie Annie Hall remains a romcom classic nearly 50 years after its premiere. As Allen’s character navigates his many neuroses and whirlwind romance, the movie delivers several hysterical and surreal moments, from Allen’s frequent fourth-wall breaks to an animated dream about the Evil Queen.

Instead of a happily ever after, the movie shows its protagonist coming to terms with his breakup and moving on with his life. This makes Annie Hall a hilarious but realistic depiction of a failed relationship and how people grow apart.

Elf

One of Will Ferrell’s best comedies

Nearly any Will Ferrell movie is a must-see thanks to him, and the legendary comedian made Elf a Christmas classic. The story follows a human baby who grows up as one of Santa’s elves. Decades later, this magical manchild goes to New York City to reunite with his father, who, unfortunately, is on Santa’s naughty list.

Ferrell gives one of his most iconic performances as the oblivious but loving Buddy. A fish out of water in the big city, he fills every scene with joy and laughter with his upbeat attitude and wacky antics, making this one of the best Christmas movies ever.

Good Will Hunting

Matt Damon’s breakout drama still hits hard

This movie made Matt Damon and Ben Affleck household names, and it remains one of the duo’s best films. However, the heart of this movie lies in the dynamic between Damon and the late great Robin Williams. Though Williams is best known for his comedic roles, he delivers a powerful dramatic performance alongside Damon as they play doctor and patient.

Overall, Good Will Hunting is a poignant story of a gifted but troubled man overcoming his trauma and unlocking his true potential. But with a healthy balance of comedy and drama, this film is an emotional rollercoaster you’ll want to ride more than once.

Mean Girls

This teenage comedy defined a generation

Prime Video is making fetch happen by adding this classic to its lineup. Tina Fey wrote one of the most defining and quotable comedies of the 2000s with Mean Girls. While Lindsey Lohan’s protagonist grew up homeschooled in the wilds of Africa, her new high school turns out to be even more treacherous as she navigates different social cliques and takes on the ruthless “Queen Bee” Regina George.

Some Like It Hot

One of the greatest comedies of all time

They say nobody’s perfect, but Some Like It Hot is as close to perfection as a film can get. This screwball comedy follows musicians Joe and Jerry, who disguise themselves as women to flee from mobsters. This leads to hilarious hijinks as they join an all-female band, with Joe falling in love with the group’s singer.

Some Like It Hot boasts an iconic trio of Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon, and Marilyn Monroe, eating up the screen in every one of their scenes. Combining its iconic performances with its clever jokes and boundary-pushing content, this movie became one of the most groundbreaking comedies in cinema history.

The Pink Panther

Steve Martin leads this underrated comedy remake

This Steve Martin comedy was one of my favorite movies growing up. Though many people prefer Peter Sellers’ version of Inspector Jacques Clouseau, Martin’s interpretation holds a special place in my heart. Steve Martin carries this Pink Panther remake with his slapstick performance as Clouseau. Balancing physical mishaps with a ridiculously silly accent, Clouseau bumbles his way across France and New York on a conveyor belt of laughs.

Madden

See Nic Cage as John Madden on November 18

Starring Nicolas Cage and Christian Bale, this Amazon Original biopic follows the life of American football coach and commentator John Madden, from his hectic partnership with Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis to his involvement in the iconic Madden NFL video game franchise.

Though the film hasn’t come out on streaming yet, it has already received controversy due to Nic Cage’s portrayal of the titular character. Nevertheless, it will surely be one of Amazon’s most highly discussed original movies in November.
