I’m always on the lookout for new books to read on my Kindle, and whenever I get the chance to expand my digital bookshelf, I take it, especially when the books are free.
Stuff Your Kindle Day is a great way to score free books, but I also get free books every month through Amazon’s First Reads program.
If you aren’t familiar with First Reads, it’s a monthly program that gives Kindle readers early access to a curated selection of upcoming Kindle ebooks before they’ve officially been released. Prime members can select one featured title to claim for free each month and keep forever, while non-Prime members can buy one of the books for just $2.
However, Amazon is shaking things up with First Reads this October. Instead of the usual one free Kindle ebook, Prime members can actually claim two free books this month.
First Reads is one of Prime’s most underrated benefits, and if you’re already a member, it’s a great way to grow your Kindle library every month without spending extra. Even if you don’t have Prime, though, picking up a new book for $2 isn’t a bad deal. And if you’ve never tried Prime, or it’s been a while, you could always sign up for a free trial and claim the two free books that way, too.

What is First Reads offering this October?
There are 10 titles to choose from
What I’ve always liked about First Reads is the variety, and this October is no exception. There are plenty of genres to choose from, including romance, thrillers, historical fiction, and more.
In total, Amazon is offering 10 books to choose from this month, and here are all the titles available, along with their genre:
As a reminder, as a Prime member, you can select two of the books above to claim and keep forever, and if you don’t have Prime, choosing two books instead costs $2 each.
Amazon refreshes First Reads on the first of every month, so once you claim your books for October, don’t forget to check again in November to get even more free books.
