EXCLUSIVE: Global Constellation has boarded international sales rights to TIFF world premiere Magazine, the feature debut of writer-director-producer Alexandra Pechman.

UTA and After Hours are repping North American rights on the project about an intrepid young intern who in 2011 gets thrown into the intoxicating power dynamics of a prestigious New York magazine.

Starring are Lily McInerny, Joshuah Melnick, Lukita Maxwell, Daniel Zolghadri, Ruby Cruz, Iris Apatow, Delaney Rowe,  Sasha Bhasin, with AnnaSophia Robb and Jake Lacy. Producers are Anne Alexander, Tess Cohen and Pechman.

McInerny recently led feature adaptation Bonjour Tristesse with Claes Bang and Chloë Sevigny. That film was also sold by Vuelta-backed Global Constellation.

A fuller synopsis reads: “Newly transplanted from Arizona, Nora (McInerny) is excited to begin an internship at the tastemaking literary journal, Platen. Her duties include reading slush-pile submissions, making coffee, and tending to the needs of high-profile guests during Platen’s many exclusive fêtes. While snobbery and name-dropping dominate, Nora’s feeling of alienation is tempered by her crush on associate editor Thomas (Joshuah Melnick) who, though only slightly older, seems to know everything about piloting the scene. Nora gradually comes to comprehend the advice of Platen publisher Mickey (Carol’s Jake Lacy): the most important thing for interns to know is when to leave the party.”

Pechman has been attached to direct genre biopic The Murderous Miss Highsmith with Shailene Woodley, Cara Delevingne and Noémie Merlant.
