Aston Villa table Ollie Watkins contract offer amid Saudi interest, Wrexham continue talks with ex-Man United star and Liverpool’s Curtis Jones closes in on Inter Milan move: WINDOW WATCH

It’s that time of the year again – the transfer window is now open until September 1 and it’s sure to be a busy period as clubs look to make big signings ahead of the new season.

Here are today’s latest developments from Simon Jones and the Daily Mail Sport team…

Jones set for Inter medical

Inter Milan expect Curtis Jones to arrive later today for his medical ahead of a £30.7million move from Liverpool.

Inter bid £26.7m plus £4m in add-ons with a 10 per cent sell-on clause, offering a similar structure to the deal used to sign Djed Spence from Tottenham.

Jones, 25, will sign a five-year deal with the Serie A champions.

Meanwhile, Liverpool centre back Ifeanyi Ndukwe, 18, is in talks to join Levante on loan. Ndukwe does not qualify for a work permit in England so must be loaned out. Liverpool remain in talks over PSG winger Bradley Barcola.

Villa table new contract offer to Watkins

Aston Villa have made a new contract offer to striker Ollie Watkins.

The 30-year-old is open to a move to Al Hilal who had a £38.5m offer rejected on Tuesday but are preparing a fourth offer for the England international.

Watkins has scored consistently throughout his Villa career and his goals would be difficult to replace.

Villa have maintained contacts over Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson who also has interest from Napoli but he is valued around £65m.

City keeping an eye on Wharton

Manchester City maintain an interest in Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton.

The Selhurst Park club are reluctant to lose the 22-year-old this summer but have been making significant enquiries for midfielders in recent weeks.

City are exploring a number of options including Manu Kone at Roma while they are advancing in talks to sign Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille and are assessing the cost of a bid for Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez.

Wharton has been a significant Premier League performer in recent seasons and excelled in the Europa League Conference final but analysts at some top level would-be suitors have indicated his running statistics do not reflect someone who can fit into a high-pressing style.

He continues to show on the pitch, however, an ability to find the right pass and shield his defence.

Wrexham make move for ex-United star

Wrexham are continuing discussions with free agent Axel Tuanzebe.

The 28-year-old Congo international left Burnley at the end of last season and has had interest from clubs but is interested in Wrexham’s ambitious project.

Hull advance in talks for Betis star Garcia

Hull City owner Acun Ilicali has confirmed they are making progress on their bid to sign Real Betis winger Pablo Garcia and remain in talks for Deportivo La Coruna winger Yeremay Hernandez.

’I think probably, if nothing unknown happens, we will see him in a black and gold shirt. It has to be finalised, but I would say 90 percent of this deal is done. We are talking about the last details,’ said Ilicali.

Pictures of Hernandez in Hull have been posted on social media, and Ilicali told BBC Humberside: ‘We have to get the club side done and Yeremay also wants to come but it is a very vital, critical decision for himself. This deal is a very hard deal but we are somewhere where it looks positive.

‘He is a young boy and it would change his life completely so he wanted to see where he would come. We will see in three, four days if this deal will be done or not. If it happens it will be a record for sure.’

Race on for Black Cats Ta Bi

West Ham and Burnley have expressed interest in Sunderland winger Jocelin Ta Bi.

The 21-year-old only joined Sunderland from Maccabi Netanya in January and signed a four and a half year contract.

He made one appearance in the FA Cup against Oxford United and then started against Fulham in the Premier League.

As it stands, the Championship clubs have expressed interest but talks have not gone further.
