Olympian Gus Kenworthy Recalls Miley Cyrus Romance Rumors Before Coming Out as Gay
Gus Kenworthy is skiing into a new chapter with Andrew Rigby.
Indeed, the Olympic skier, 34, traded his usual snowy slopes for the seven seas when he proposed to his partner of two years.
Taking Rigby on an excursion off the coast of Mallorca, Spain, he set up a picnic for the finance executive—fit with extra sweet margaritas “because that’s how Andrew orders them”—and popped the question on Aug. 4.
“We took a private dinghy from the pier at the St. Regis where we were having a cocktail by the beach at the Mar Sea Club,” Kenworthy recalled to People in an interview published on Aug. 6. “I told Andrew I was taking him on a little adventure. Once we got to the island we climbed off the dinghy and hiked up to the top of the cliffs.”
After the 43-year-old said yes, the silver medalist had another surprise waiting for his now-fiancé: An engagement party on a chartered boat with their closest pals.
“Six of our friends were hiding on it,” Kenworthy detailed, “waiting to surprise Andrew and celebrate with us!”
