Alejandro Garnacho is forced off injured in just his second Aston Villa match since sealing acrimonious Chelsea departure

Aston Villa forward Alejandro Garnacho left the field injured in just his second game for the club after joining from Chelsea.

Former Manchester United man Garnacho has moved to Villa Park on a year-long loan, and sources say the conditions are easily achievable and the total package meets the Blues’ initial £43million valuation of the player.

But he has got his career with his new side off to a nightmare start, being substituted injured in the first-half against BG Pathum in Thailand during Villa’s pre-season tour.

Having made his debut against the Indonesia All Stars last week, he was hoping to kick on but had to be replaced after being fouled by Ryan Edwards.

He needed medical treatment on the field, and made way with what was understood to be a facial injury.

Villa won the game 3-1, but also lost captain John McGinn to injury after he hurt his knee.

Emi Buendia, Victor Lindelof and Boubacar Kamara were on the scoresheet for Unai Emery’s men.

Garnacho had previously been of interest to Villa before he left Man United last summer for the Blues.

The Argentine winger played 43 matches for Chelsea last season in all competitions, but missed out on a spot at the World Cup.

Garnacho featured 24 times in the Premier League for the Blues, scoring one goal and providing three assists.

He scored eight times in total for Chelsea, with half of his goals coming in the Carabao Cup.

He has struggled to nail down a starting spot since Ruben Amorim took over at Old Trafford but will be hoping life at Villa Park is a fresh start.

Emery is a big fan of the 22-year-old and is understood to have played a key role in the move.

Villa will face Borussia Monchengladbach and Bayern Munich in friendlies before kicking off their Premier League season away to Brighton.

They will also take on Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain in the Super Cup after winning the Europa League.
