The Netherlands Under-19 international has made 25 appearances for Ajax and is regarded as a top talent.

However, Ajax need funds to strengthen their squad and also have young Belgian midfielder Jorthy Mokio who can play in the same role.

They have also asked for a 12.5 per cent sell-on clause.

Ipswich beat Hull to Brazilian striker

Ipswich are closing on a deal for Toulouse striker Emersonn.

Hull City had made the early running for the 21-year-old but Ipswich are finalising terms with the fee, including bonuses, worth just under £20m.

Toulouse also want a sell-on clause in the agreement.

Emersonn is due to travel for his medical and will become the first signing of Gary O’Neil’s tenure at Portman Road.
