Fans React in Horror as Fireworks Shoot into Crowd Following Post-Game Celebration at Stadium in L.A.

A celebration at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles turned to distress for some fans when a fireworks display began shooting into the crowd.

The incident occurred following Angel City FC's 2-0 win over the Orlando Pride on Friday evening, July 3, according to an Angel City FC spokesperson and multiple videos of the incident shared on social media by event attendees.

One video of the incident posted by X user @ThisIsJadeRyan shows fireworks shooting up into the air before a number of rockets began shooting into the stands as a woman could be heard yelling, “Oh, my God!” and fans rushed to exit the stadium.

“Marked safe from Angel City's firework show,” the user wrote in the video's caption.

"There were some issues at the Angel City Firework Show Last Night," another X user wrote alongside a video of the incident from another angle in which shouts could be heard from the crowd.

While it is not immediately clear if there were any injuries associated with the incident, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department told PEOPLE that the department “did not respond to any injuries” related to the event.

In a statement shared with PEOPLE, an Angel City FC spokesperson stated that a “fireworks malfunction” occurred during a post-game celebration.

“Our medical and safety teams were on site and ready to respond. Stadium operations confirmed the venue was secure, and guests, staff, players and crew were able to depart safely,” the statement continued.

“We are working closely with our pyrotechnics vendor to review the incident and evaluating appropriate next steps,” the spokesperson added.

A representative for BMO Stadium did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.
