Has Euphoria finally come to an end? That’s the question on fans’ minds after the season three finale.
After all, the fate of the beloved HBO show—starring Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie, Maude Apatow and Jacob Elordi—already looked precarious when it took a yearslong hiatus between the second and third seasons.
“There were obvious factors—the strikes, trying to make a schedule work with our very in-demand cast,” show creator Sam Levinson told Variety in April, “but the real time was in trying to figure out how to find a way to pay respect to those who we lost.”
Indeed, production took a tragic turn when Angus Cloud died from an accidental overdose in 2023 during the actors and writers strike. The cast and crew weathered another tragedy shortly before the season three premiere earlier this year, when Eric Dane passed away following a battle with ALS.
That’s why Levinson wanted to “deliver a f–king slam dunk” of a third season. As he put it, “I want to finish this as strong as I can.”
