President Donald Trump is considering tossing his support behind Spencer Pratt in the Los Angeles mayoral race, a new report claimed.
Trump is ‘quietly weighing whether to throw his support behind’ television personality Pratt, 42, according to gossip columnist Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice on Substack.
An insider told Shuter that ‘Trump loves celebrity candidates, and [Pratt] knows exactly how to dominate headlines.’
The idea of endorsing Pratt, a registered Republican, has ‘absolutely been discussed’ inside the White House ahead of the June 2 primary, according to the report.
Pratt has insisted he does ‘not represent a party’ after being labeled a ‘MAGA Republican’ by opponent Nithya Raman, an LA City Councilmember who is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America.
‘I represent all of Los Angeles,’ Pratt told NBC LA last Friday. ‘I don’t have a campaign manager. I don’t have campaign consultants. There’s no political party backing me.’
The reality star turned mayoral hopeful was widely praised for his performance in a televised debate against Raman and incumbent LA mayor Karen Bass on May 6, with about 90 percent of viewers declaring him the winner, per an NBC LA poll.
Pratt has frequently criticized Bass over her handling of the LA wildfires that destroyed thousands of Southern California homes, including his $3.8 million property, in January 2025.

Pratt, a registered Republican, has said he does not ‘represent a party’ and insisted that he represented ‘all of Los Angeles’
Pratt, best known until now for appearing on the reality television show The Hills, said he was ‘an angry Angeleno running to get LA to be the number one city.’
‘Their failed leadership is why I’m gonna get elected,’ Pratt added, referring to Bass and Raman.
During the debate, Pratt cracked that he would rather face only Raman in the election.
‘All the unions support Mayor Bass,’ he said. ‘You think it’s easier to run against the incumbent mayor with all the unions, or a random city council member who has been a failure for six years?’
During his mayoral campaign, Pratt has drawn comparisons to Trump for sharing a reality TV past and using aggressive viral messaging.
Pratt’s political run picked up steam as he targeted Bass for how she managed the Palisades Fire, which burned his own home down.
He has also highlighted the high levels of drug use and rampant homelessness in LA, promising a three-week ‘grace period’ to warn criminals, drug users and homeless people to leave the city.
‘Signs up across the city: no more nakedness, no more drug use, no more robbing, no more dog abuse,’ he told the All In podcast.
Pratt added that his team would go around and warn everyone that ‘you got three more weeks of this, clock’s ticking.’
‘After that, once we start enforcing the laws: boom!’ he said. ‘Streets will be back.’
Trump has not endorsed anyone in the LA mayoral race. He has frequently criticized Bass, who met with the President at the White House on April 22 to discuss the rebuilding process after the wildfires.

On Friday, Bass said Pratt was ‘tapping into the anger and frustration that people have’ while noting that she thought ‘we’re a celebrity-driven culture.’
‘I don’t think he has a clue [about] how to run the nation’s second largest city,’ Bass told ABC 7.
Earlier this month, Bass had accused Pratt of ‘exploiting the grief’ of the Palisades Fire victims.
‘Honestly, before this, I had never heard of Spencer Pratt,’ Bass said. ‘I think that’s reprehensible. He is about his own celebrity. He’s famous now again.’
Pratt responded to Bass’s remarks by calling them the ‘most insane, psycho diabolical thing I’ve heard in a minute.’
‘I’m not sure if Karen Bass forgot that she let my house burn down and my parents’ house burn down,’ Pratt told Fox News’ Will Cain Show.
Pratt added that he had ‘actual neighbors burn alive across the street from my childhood home.
‘The only grief is my grief, my community’s grief, that I initially started this fight on behalf of, and she forgets I’ve received two community advocate awards from the Pacific Palisades community.’

While acknowledging that he had been a registered Republican since 2020, Pratt said he would ‘not serve either party’ if elected mayor

Pratt addressed his status as a registered Republican in January, saying he made the move in 2020 and ‘never changed it.’
‘I wasn’t going to change it now just to check a different box,’ he wrote on X. ‘This is a non-partisan race – there will be no D or R next to my name. As Mayor, I will not serve either party.’
Actors, executives, musicians, podcasters, reality stars and political figures, including Paris Hilton, Joe Rogan, Brody Jenner and James Woods, have all backed Pratt.
His wife, Heidi Montag, is also among those to publicly support the reality star.
The mayoral election looks like a toss-up in the weeks before voters head to the polls.
A poll published by Emerson College on Wednesday suggested that Bass was in the lead but under pressure.
The incumbent LA mayor received 30 percent support in the survey, with Pratt coming in second at 22 percent and Raman trailing at 19 percent.
That represented a 12 point boost for Pratt since March, according to Emerson Polling.
A separate poll conducted by the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs last month saw Bass on top at 25 percent support, with Pratt coming in second at 11 percent and Raman trailing at nine percent.
If no candidate wins more than 50 percent of the vote next month, the mayoral election will be decided in a run-off on November 3.
A Republican has not been LA mayor since 1997, though municipal elections in California are nonpartisan.
The Daily Mail has reached out to the White House and Pratt for comment.
