Google Wallet and Apple Wallet get most of the attention in the digital wallet space, but there’s an underrated player that doesn’t always get the credit it deserves: Samsung Wallet.
Samsung Wallet offers many of the same features as Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, making it easy to store your credit cards and passes in one convenient place. But now, Samsung Wallet is introducing something its competitors don’t have: Trips.
Trips is a new feature rolling out now in Samsung Wallet. As the name suggests, it’s designed to make traveling as smooth as possible by helping you organize and manage your trip-related plans in one place. It pulls together all your travel-related items in Samsung Wallet — like boarding passes, concert tickets, theme park admissions, train tickets, and more — and organizes them into what Samsung calls a “Trip timeline,” essentially creating a travel itinerary for you.
For example, when you add items like a boarding pass or hotel reservation to Samsung Wallet, Trips automatically groups them by time and location so you can view your entire trip in one simple, organized timeline. You can also manually add itinerary items and memos, making it easy to keep track of plans that don’t necessarily come with a pass stored in Samsung Wallet.

If you’re interested in trying Samsung Wallet’s new Trips feature, the good news is that it’s now rolling out. However, it’s worth noting that Samsung Wallet is exclusive to Samsung Galaxy phones, so you unfortunately can’t use it on other Android devices.
I’d love to see Apple Wallet and Google Wallet introduce something similar in the near future.
Samsung says Trips will initially be available in the US, UK, and Korea. It will be available on all Samsung Galaxy phones with Samsung Wallet version 6.4.97 or higher in the US, 6.4.98 or higher in the UK, and 5.9.32 or higher in Korea. You can download and update Samsung Wallet from the Galaxy Store or the Google Play Store.
“Travel plans are often scattered across confirmations, apps, and messages, and that creates friction at the exact moments people need clarity,” said Woncheol Chai, EVP and Head of Digital Wallet Team at Samsung’s Mobile Division, in a press release. “By bringing Trips to Samsung Wallet, we’re giving Galaxy users a single place to keep their trip details organized and stay one step ahead as their plans unfold.”
Samsung also highlights that all of your wallet information and trip plans are securely protected by Samsung Knox, its security platform, which uses encryption and biometric authentication to safeguard information stored on your device.
Personally, I’m really impressed by Samsung’s new Trips feature. It’s a simple but smart way to organize all the travel documents you already have stored in your wallet, and I really like how everything is laid out in a clear chronological timeline. If you need to quickly double-check your flight time or see when your train departs, you can just open Samsung Wallet instead of jumping between multiple apps.
Depending on the device I have, I use Google Wallet and Apple Wallet the most when I travel, which is why I think a travel-focused feature like Samsung Wallet’s Trips is such a great idea. I’d love to see Apple Wallet and Google Wallet introduce something similar in the near future.
