Spring has sprung, and it’s a beautiful thing! Not only do I love the weather this time of year, but the fashion is top-notch. It always feels so nice to swap heavy sweaters for flowy dresses and light layers. While I love playing around with trends and fun outfit combinations each season, I also love leaning into my closet staples and clothing basics.
So today, similar to the winter outfit staples I shared, I’m going to chat about the spring clothing essentials I’ll be wearing on repeat. Some are pieces I’m eyeing and buying, while others are all-time favorites I’ll be pulling back out of my closet from last year. Let’s dive right in!
My Approach to Spring Clothing Essentials
When it comes to staples, it’s important to remember that what “qualifies” as a clothing essential is truly in the eye of the beholder. My version of a staple might look quite different from yours — it all depends on your personal style.
For this list, I focused on two things: first, the classic fashion pieces I reach for on repeat each spring, and second, the trendier pieces I see myself leaning into this year. The 10 spring clothing essentials featured here are a thoughtful combination of both.
10 Spring Clothing Essentials
Okay, now for the fun part! Let’s dig into the ten spring pieces I anticipate will be my 2026 closet MVPs.
1. An Easy Cargo Pant
I love a relaxed jean or pant, and I’m really into the cargo trend happening right now. While I typically lean into all things feminine, there’s something so refreshing about throwing on a pair of straight-leg cargo pants, an easy striped tee, and sleek sandals. I can already tell this will be one of my go-to outfits this spring.
Some of my current favorites include these twill pants I wore countless times in NYC and Dallas (they make for a great airport pant), this taffeta cargo pair that every influencer has been raving about, and this pink option that also taps into the barrel-leg trend.
2. Simple Strappy Sandals
A strappy sandal truly goes with everything — from a sundress to a slip skirt to relaxed denim and everything in between. I’m actually sticking with the pairs I scooped up last year, which have transitioned seamlessly into 2026.
My most-worn sandals — this pair and this pair — are both back this year and restocked in new colors! These styles took me through trips to NYC, Stockholm, Prague, and countless other destinations last summer. They’re comfortable, lightweight, and super easy to pack.
3. An Elastic-Waist Bubble Hem Skirt
Never did I think I’d see the day bubble hems would be trending again, but here we are! I’m loving how this trend has evolved into an easy, elastic-waist skirt. It’s the perfect alternative to a sundress. Pair one with a tucked-in fitted tee and either of the simple sandals I just mentioned for a chic spring look.
So far, I’ve committed to this skirt (as seen styled here) and this one. Both bring something different to the table — the taffeta option feels slightly dressier and would be so chic with a kitten heel, while the poplin version is more casual and would look great with an easy graphic tee or a fitted cardigan and sneakers.
4. The Perfect Fitted Tee
Okay, for this one, I have to admit I’m still doing the research. A few years ago, I shared my selections for the best women’s T-shirts, but as we all know, fits and fabrics change from season to season. Right now, I’m gathering intel on what will become my go-to tee for summer ’26.
Currently in the running are this tee that comes in a rainbow of colors, this cap-sleeve option, and this classic style. I imagine all of these will end up being part of my spring clothing essentials, but I’ll keep you updated on which one ultimately becomes my favorite!
5. A Spring Sweater
I know what you’re thinking — a sweater? You live in Florida! But the truth is, here you’re either outdoors sweating and overheating or inside in the AC, freezing. The in-between just doesn’t exist. Because of that, I’m always on the hunt for a great summer-weight sweater.
My top two right now are this “perfect sweater” (no, really — that’s the name, and it’s fitting!) and this open-weave linen-blend option. These are great to throw over your shoulders or toss into a large tote, so you can easily layer up when you walk into a frigid grocery store or dinner spot.
6. Satin Pants
Similarly, while I love dresses, skirts, and shorts in the warmer months, I don’t rule out pants entirely. The key is finding lightweight, breathable styles. Lately, satin pants have been trending, and they seem to be here to stay.
I, of course, adore this pair that I own in two colors. Two great alternatives at more forgiving price points are this under-$100 option that comes in some beautiful hues and this sleek pair. Need some outfit inspiration? You can see me styling satin (and satin-like) pants here, here, and here!
7. Aviator Shades
A great pair of sunnies is always a must-have for spring. Lately, aviators have been my go-to shape. There are so many great options out there at a variety of price points. Personally, I love oversized styles (surprise, surprise!) that feel a bit more modern.
I recently got this pair from a new-to-me brand, and I’m in love. I feel like they instantly make any outfit look cooler! If you’re looking for a more budget-friendly option, I also recently picked up these and these — and have gotten so many compliments on both.
8. A Great Third Piece
Hot days, cooler nights — this time of year calls for a great third piece: something you can easily throw on that’s versatile enough to pair with so much in your closet, such as this jacket I am wearing today!
At the top of my list is this jacket. I love the loose shape, the lightweight fabric, and how it feels like a hybrid of preppy and minimalist styling. More of a girly girl? This light pink barn coat is darling. Want a mix of feminine and utilitarian? This jacket ticks both boxes. And I, of course, adore the collar shape!
9. An Easy Set
A great set is absolutely a must-have when it comes to my spring clothing essentials. It’s a no-brainer — it instantly makes you feel put together, is typically easy to accessorize, and the separate pieces can be restyled with other staples in your wardrobe.
I’m currently eyeing this terry stripe set. Talk about a throw-and-go outfit! If terry is your thing, be sure to check out this set as well. Looking for more of a color pop? This set will do just that! Also, note — I think this one is far better in real life. It feels styled a bit oddly on the model, but trust me, it’s much cuter in person.
10. A Versatile Feminine Dress
Spring calls for lots of occasions — Mother’s Day, baby showers, weddings, and everything in between. I love having a feminine dress that works just as well with flats as it does with heels.
This flattering midi dress will be my personal go-to this year. It comes in navy, black, and pink, making it perfect for so many of the occasions you might be dressing for!
