When a movie adaptation of a book gets it right, it feels like magic. Some of my all-time favorites that come to mind are The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Jurassic Park, Oppenheimer, and The Godfather. And this year, another title joined that list: Project Hail Mary.
Project Hail Mary is based on the novel by Andy Weir, and it’s been a huge hit at the box office since its March release, grossing over $500 million, becoming Amazon MGM’s biggest theatrical release ever, and earning strong critical acclaim. Now, to cash in even more on the cultural phenomenon that is Project Hail Mary, Amazon has released a new limited-edition Kindle case inspired by it.
Amazon’s new limited-edition Project Hail Mary Kindle case is now available and features a design of the protagonist, Ryland Grace, tethered outside the airlock of his ship, Hail Mary. If you’ve read the book or seen the movie, it’s an iconic scene and, in my view, no doubt one of the best limited-edition Kindle case designs Amazon has released to date.
The new Project Hail Mary case is designed for the Kindle Paperwhite, Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition (2024), Kindle Colorsoft, and Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition and costs $50, so it’s a bit more expensive than the average Kindle case.
The case attaches magnetically
It has good reviews so far
If you’re considering picking up this Project Hail Mary case for your Kindle, there are a few more things you should know.
Firstly, it attaches magnetically to your Kindle, so you don’t need to worry about it fitting loosely, since it should be a snug fit thanks to the built-in magnets in Kindles.
Another neat feature is that it is a folio case, which means it will wake or put your Kindle to sleep when you open or close it. Additionally, the cover can fold all the way back so you can still read it with one hand. Amazon also says its design is “thin and lightweight,” so you can hold it comfortably for long periods.
Amazon has released other limited-edition Kindle cases before, like the one it released last year for The Summer I Turned Pretty, but this Project Hail Mary case is no doubt one of the most eye-catching designs it’s ever released. So far, the case doesn’t have many reviews on Amazon, but the few it does have are positive, with one user calling it “absolutely stunning” and another saying it has a “perfect fit and nice feel.” However, at $50, it is a tad steep. If you’re a big fan of Project Hail Mary, you’ll likely enjoy the flair it adds to your Kindle.
