Of course, the market for ultra-high-end disc players is fairly small, with reference-grade hardware being a particular niche within an already small physical media landscape. With this in mind, there aren’t nearly as many reference players on the market as there otherwise might’ve been if streaming were to have never taken off.
As it stands, then, most 4K UHD players fall under the more mainstream category that hovers around the $300-$500 mark. Such players aren’t reference-grade, and thus aren’t as finely tuned for pixel-perfect playback, but they are far more approachable and still packed with AV features of their own.
