Is this confirmation … or a debunking?
Shortly after Law Roach announced that Zendaya and Tom Holland secretly married, Zendaya’s mom weighed in.
But different people have different reads on what she’s saying.
Is this disapproval? Is this confirmation? Or, as some wonder, is she in on a joke?
What does THIS mean?
On March 1, celebrity stylist Law Roach spoke from the red carpet of the Actor Awards.
There, he teased that Zendaya and Tom Holland’s wedding had “already happened.”
It was a cheek response following rampant speculation about the extremely attractive, beloved couple’s status.
(Zendaya has been seen wearing a gold band on her finger, which can signify marriage.)
This is where the presumed mother of the bride, Chlaire Stoermer, weighed in.

Claire simply shared a short clip of Law’s red carpet commentary to her Instagram Story.
Her only addition was to write: “The laugh. …”
And, of course, to add her own laughing emoji.
Some believe that this is to indicate that she’s laughing alongside Law with excitement.
Others, however, believe that she’s suggesting that Law’s statement is less than factual — that this is trolling.
This is a very quiet couple
Tom and Zendaya first met on the set of the first of the MCU-adjacent Spider-Man films.
Homecoming released in 2016.
Even so, they have remained exceptionally quiet about their romance.
Where some co-stars drum up fake romance speculation in order to promote a film (very successfully, we might add), they have gone another route.
Quiet about dating — only confirming the romance in 2021. Quiet about their engagement. And now … ?

It seems likely that Claire would would to respect her daughter (and possible son-in-law) and their wishes.
Maybe Law dished on their wedding because the couple no longer cares who knows.
Or maybe it was an accidental slip.
(And, again, it may have been an instance of trolling that took off like wildfire.)
Regardless, Claire wouldn’t necessarily want to add certainty to an ambiguous situation unless her daughter wants people to know.
Why so secretive?
Throughout history, some in the entertainment industry have been secretive about romance because their relationship was illegal or scandalous. Even today, some actors remain semi-closeted.
On the flip side, others have kept flings a secret because they happened during preexisting relationships. This is often called “cheating,” and is generally frowned upon in most cultures.
Tom and Zendaya aren’t in that situation. But they’ve watched other people’s romances melt away under the spotlight — and aren’t going to repeat those mistakes.
They’ve correctly pointed out that they don’t “owe” anyone answers about their personal lives. And they’re right!
The one downside to keeping quiet is that it allows others to make up their own narratives about you. But, if you can live with that, it can be very freeing to simply decline personal questions.
Whatever’s going on with them, we’re happy for them. And not only because they’re one of the hottest couples on the planet.
