Apple has announced an expansion of its

Self Service Repair program
to include the iPad, now providing support for its latest models, such as the

iPad Air
(M2 and later), iPad Pro (M4),

iPad mini
(A17 Pro), and

iPad
(A16). With the addition of the iPad to Apple’s Self Service Repair program, iPad owners will now have better access to repair manuals and genuine Apple parts, making it easier to resolve any issues that may arise with their devices. The iPad officially joins the program on May 29, 2025.

“At Apple, our goal is to create the world’s greatest products that last as long as possible,” said Brian Naumann, Apple’s vice president of AppleCare, in a statement. “With today’s announcement, we’re excited to expand our repair services to more customers, enabling them to further extend the life of their products — all without compromising safety, security, or privacy.”

Apple first launched its Self Service Repair Program in 2022, and since then, the number of devices it covers has gradually expanded. The program initially began with the iPhone and select Mac models and now supports 65 Apple products, including the MacBook Air, Mac Studio, and the latest iPhones, such as

With the program expanding to the iPad, device owners will have access to the same tools and resources used at Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers for repairing iPads and other Apple devices.

One of these tools is Apple Diagnostics. This web-based tool, which was first launched in 2023 for iPhones and Macs, helps users identify common hardware or software issues they may encounter on their device by running various diagnostic tests, including tests for Face ID, camera image quality, audio output, and the touchscreen. Previously, this handy tool was accessible only to Apple service providers for iPads, but now it is available to every user.

Apple’s Self Service Repair Program is available in the US, and 32 European countries…. this summer Apple is expanding the program to Canada.

Apple’s Self Service Repair Program also enables customers to buy the necessary parts to repair their devices. This means you’ll soon have the option to order various parts for your iPad, including replacement displays, batteries, charging ports, cameras, and more. Although the prices for some of these parts are not yet available, for reference, a replacement display and screw kit for the iPhone 16 is priced at $279.

Additionally, Apple shared more details about its Genuine Parts Distributor program. This new program gives independent repair shops not partnered with Apple a way to order genuine Apple parts to use in their shops through third-party distributors such as MobileSentrix in the US and Mobileparts.shop in Europe.

It’s important to note that Apple’s Self Service Repair program is specifically designed for consumers who are experienced and comfortable enough attempting to fix their own devices.
