Bindloss Dawes, an architecture firm based in Somerset has just taken on the renovation project for homeowners Emma Dahlman and Nick Illston. The team had designed a new extension to a dilapidated terraced home in Hackney, London with concrete and timber. The extension overlooks Clissold Park in Stoke Newington — it was important to create a serene home suitable for a family with the help of Dahlman on the interior side.
The co-founder of Bindloss Dawes, George Dawes speaks about the design, “In the extension we wanted to celebrate and express the new structure, which is so vital is holding up the back of the building, as well as creating the spine-wall of the new extension. In situ reinforced concrete was a natural choice, treating the surface differently for the floors and walls, and creating a material departure from the Victorian interiors.”
