For seven years, he journeyed through the vast ocean, and in the eighth year, he emerged from the water to set foot on solid ground. In that moment, Vainamoinen (Väinämöinen) was born—a magician destined to inspire and shape the world with his extraordinary gifts.

Vainamoinen is sometimes said to be the source of the world’s creation. Still, the most popular stories about him describe his great adventures, sorcery, his visit to the underworld, and his coming back alive.
