Summary
- Trump Mobile offers a $47 5G plan and the Trump Phone for $500, initially claiming the phone will be made in the USA.
- The Made in the USA claim has been removed from the Trump Phone site. The screen size has also changed, and the amount of RAM is no longer listed.
- The T1 Phone was expected to release in August or September, but now the site just says “coming later this year.”
The Trump Organization recently announced and launched Trump Mobile, a new wireless carrier in the US offering nationwide 5G service. It offers one plan, called “The 47 Plan,” which provides unlimited talk, text, and data for $47.45 a month. However, one of the key highlights of the Trump Mobile announcement wasn’t the wireless plan itself but the phone it introduced alongside it.
The Trump Phone, officially known as the T1 Phone 8002 (gold version), is an Android device that Trump Mobile is offering for pre-order at $500. In its initial press release, Trump Mobile claimed that the T1 Phone is “proudly designed and built in the United States.” However, just a week after Trump Mobile went live, its website for the T1 Phone has since been scrubbed of any mention of made in the USA, as first spotted by The Verge.
On Trump Mobile’s website, the large banner that once read “MADE IN THE USA” has been removed and replaced with pro-American language, such as “designed with American values in mind.” The phone’s new tagline appears to be “Premium Performance. Proudly American.” Another statement on the site claims the phone has “American hands behind every device.”
The issue is, none of these taglines actually confirm that the phone is indeed made in the USA as initially claimed by Trump Mobile, and not elsewhere in the world. Theoretically, Apple could use similar language to this, as its devices are designed in Cupertino, California, despite being assembled overseas.

Where did the 6.78-inch screen go?
Trump Mobile / Pocket-lint
It’s not just the made in the USA language that has disappeared from the Trump Mobile website. Some of the phone’s specifications have also changed. Originally, the phone was advertised as having a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen, but now the Trump Mobile site states it has a 6.25-inch AMOLED screen. The refresh rate remains listed as 120Hz.
The T1 Phone was also previously claimed to have 12GB of RAM, but that information has now been completely removed from the website, with no current mention of its RAM. Most specifications remain unchanged, including its 5,000mAh battery, 256GB of storage, 50-megapixel main camera, and features like “Fingerprint sensor and AI Face Unlock.”
When the T1 Phone was announced, the press release listed August as the release month, while the website indicated September. Now, the website simply states it will be “coming later this year.” The Trump Organization did not respond to The Verge’s request for comment, leaving the situation unclear. The photo of the T1 Phone on the website has remained unchanged, so it’s still expected to be a gold-brushed phone. It’s possible the phone could still be made in the USA, but given what the site says and the complexity of actually doing that, it seems unlikely.
