- Versatile for indoor and outdoor use, with simple cleaning instructions for a clean finish.
When you’re trying to feed a hungry group of people, speed is the name of the game. While slow roasting a pork shoulder or making a huge pot of chili can be incredibly satisfying, those dishes take a long time to make and may not be the right choice if you need to make a meal fast. When cooking quickly, you probably just want to do something alone for preparation and not involve a whole group of people.
But, what if you could involve other people and make something much faster than a traditional cooking method? I’m not talking about using an air fryerto speed up the cooking process, either. Making pizza together is a great option for larger groups or intimate couples. But, having to wait for the oven to heat up and then cook the pizza can take a lot of time. The Current Model P Smart Pizza Oven takes the pizza-making process and turns it up a notch.

Not only does this pizza oven cook a pizzain two minutes, but it can be used indoors or outdoors. It’s an ideal kitchen accessory for any time of the year, and there are a bunch of features that knocked my socks off.
It has five different pizza modes
Talk about variety
My family and I love making pizza at home. Most Fridays, we’ll grab some fresh dough from Wegmans and spend the evening rolling it out, prepping toppings, and waiting for the oven to hit 450°F. It’s a fun tradition — but between letting the dough warm up, assembling the pizzas, and dealing with uneven cooking (even with a pizza stone), it takes a lot of time and patience. And after all that, the crust still sometimes comes out burnt in spots or undercooked in others.
So when I got the chance to try the Current Model P pizza oven, I jumped at it. I was really curious about the tech behind it — especially how it claims to cook different pizza styles evenly. The setup was super simple: I placed the pizza stone on the rack, slid it in, plugged the oven in, and turned it on. From there, you just select the type of pizza you’re making. The oven has five modes:
- Neapolitan
- New York
- Thin Crust
- Frozen
- Broil
The Broil option isn’t so much a pizza cooking mode as it is finishing off a pizza that you feel needs more time. I first tried the Neapolitan style and then later on the New York style. I’m excited to try the other ones as well, but I wanted to try and perfect at least one of the other ones first.

It heats up to 850° in order to cook the pizza fast
This is arguably its most impressive feature
When you picture a classic pizzeria, you probably imagine a big oven with a heavy metal door and a pizza maker sliding pies in and out with a long-handled peel. Those ovens get really hot — up to 850°F — to crank out pizzas fast, and if you’ve ever watched closely, you’ve likely seen them rotate the pizza mid-cook to make sure it browns evenly.
The Current Model P takes a lot of cues from traditional pizza ovens but reimagines the process in a more efficient, user-friendly way. Like a pizzeria oven, it can hit 850°F and handle different styles of pizza. But unlike gas or wood-fired models, it’s fully electric — and uses a unique heating system that surrounds the pizza with heat from all sides. The specially designed pizza stone ensures even cooking without ever having to rotate the pie.
The crust comes out evenly cooked every single time.
That was one of the first things that stood out to me. I could shut the door, lock in the heat, and let the oven do its thing. Once you select the pizza style, the oven automatically preheats to the right temperature. After sliding your pizza in, a two-minute timer starts. When it’s done, just open the door and take it out — or tap the knob to add more time. No matter the style or toppings, the crust comes out evenly cooked every single time.

It can connect to your phone for monitoring
It will give you more precision when cooking
A neat facet of the Current Model P is that it is Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled, so you can use an app to connect to the pizza oven. It takes no time to pair your phone, as you can connect it to your home network. I initially thought about why I would need to connect to the pizza oven if it only takes two minutes for a pizza to cook. But, after using the app, it gives you real-time updates on what temperature the oven is preheating at, so you don’t have to stand in front of it for 20 minutes while it preheats. This lets you go about making other parts of dinner or leaving the room entirely.
The unique heating technology of the Current Model P produces heat from all sides and the modified pizza stone cooks the pizza evenly, so you don’t have to turn the pizza at all.
Current could’ve stopped at just giving the oven remote control via the app — and honestly, that alone would’ve made it a great backup to hovering in front of the oven. But they went further. The app also includes recipes for pizza dough and full pizzas, which is super helpful if you’re starting from scratch.
Once you pick the style of pizza you want to make, the app offers more detailed cooking guidance. There’s even a “Build” feature where you can select your toppings, and it automatically tweaks the cook time based on what you’ve added. Some toppings need a bit longer than the standard two-minute bake, so the app adjusts accordingly (with no guesswork).

I don’t pay for streaming thanks to this food delivery app trick
You might have some perks you aren’t aware of.
It works both indoors and outdoors
Outdoors may actually be your preferred choice
One of the biggest advantages of the Current Model P is its flexibility — you can use it just about anywhere. We made our first pizza indoors on the kitchen island. Thanks to its raised legs, the oven stays elevated and doesn’t scorch the surface underneath. Just make sure to leave about four inches of clearance on all sides and the top, since it gets pretty hot while cooking. Because it’s electric, you just need a flat spot near an outlet. The cord isn’t incredibly long, so it does limit where you’re going to place it.
Still, having the choice to cook indoors or out is a huge plus. Most outdoor pizza ovens are built like wood-fired ovens — open-faced, with no door — which makes them vulnerable to wind. On a family vacation earlier this year, we had a tough time getting one of those ovens hot enough because of constant gusts. The Current Model P doesn’t have that issue. Its door and double-pane viewing window keep heat in and let you keep an eye on your pizza without opening it up to the elements. After a few pizzas, the leftover semolina on the stone does start to smoke, and the oven vents it out the back — so if you’re making a few pies, I’d recommend taking it outside just to keep the kitchen air a little cleaner.

Cleaning it is simple
This was even after a spill
The first time we tried to put a pizza in the oven, we hadn’t realized that our pizza peel was a little wider than the oven’s opening (the Current Model P measures 17.5″ x 21.2″ x 14.21″ and weighs 31 pounds). That caused the pizza to fold a bit as we slid it in, leaving a bit of a mess on the inner glass door. Luckily, cleaning the device is incredibly easy, and I didn’t have to worry about taking the whole thing apart. The cleaning instructions are very specific, so it’s important to follow them to make the pizza oven last.
You have to wait for the pizza oven to cool down fully before cleaning it. Taking the pizza stone out and scrubbing it with a nylon brush easily got off any residue from the semolina or spilled toppings. Taking a damp cloth and wiping the inside of the oven got rid of anything on there as well. It looked almost brand new, even after a few uses. The entire design of the Current Model P makes it a good choice for many families.
