One of the most popular 4K streaming devices right now isn’t the Fire TV Stick 4K Max, Apple TV 4K, Roku Ultra, or the Google TV Streamer — it’s Walmart’s Onn 4K Pro. This budget-friendly Google TV streamer packs in premium features such as Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, Wi-Fi 6, and Gemini support, yet costs just $45. That’s less than half the $100 price of the Google TV Streamer.
Unsurprisingly, the Onn 4K Pro frequently sells out on Walmart’s website. But the ongoing stock shortages may not just be due to high demand. There’s been growing speculation that a refreshed version is on the way, and a new FCC listing suggests that’s likely the case.
Android TV Guide recently spotted a new Onn device that has passed through FCC approval, indicating Walmart could be preparing to launch an updated model soon. The filing doesn’t specifically name the Onn 4K Pro, but based on the device image and listed specifications, it strongly points in that direction.
According to FCC documents, the second-gen Onn 4K Pro could carry the model number JS620K4 and feature 32GB of storage, 3GB of RAM, and Wi-Fi 6, the same core specs as the current first-gen model. The key difference appears to be the inclusion of Thread radio support, a feature also found in the Google TV Streamer, which enables control of Matter-compatible smart home devices (via AFTV News).
Android TV Guide also speculates that the new second-gen Onn 4K Pro could be powered by an Amlogic S905X5M, a quad-core chipset running at 2.5 Ghz, which would make sense given that it’s the same chip used in the newer Onn 4K Plus. This would give the new Onn 4K Pro a decent performance boost over the current first-gen model, which runs an Amlogic S905X4, a quad-core 2.0 Ghz chip.

In addition to the new Onn 4K Pro appearing in FCC filings, Android TV Guide also spotted another device: an Onn streaming stick with model number WS137K4. Based on the listing, it features 8GB of storage, 1GB of RAM, and Wi-Fi 5. These specs strongly suggest this is a new Onn HD Stick, Walmart’s entry-level 1080p streaming stick. The second-gen Onn HD Stick was launched in 2023, so it’s arguably due for a refresh.
…Walmart typically doesn’t formally announce new Onn devices. There’s a good chance these two new streamers could quietly appear on its website at any point over the next few months.
Onn devices have gained traction recently as Amazon has started tightening restrictions around sideloading certain apps — particularly those tied to piracy — on its Fire TV devices. Additionally, Amazon’s newer Fire TV Stick 4K Select runs Vega OS, a Linux-based operating system, and removes sideloading support altogether. That’s a shift away from Fire OS, the Android-based platform that powers other Amazon streaming devices like the Fire TV Stick HD, 4K Plus, 4K Max, and its Fire TVs. The Onn 4K Pro runs Google TV, so you can freely sideload whatever Android apps you want on it.
However, the biggest issue with Walmart’s Onn 4K Pro lately has been availability. The device is frequently out of stock, making it frustratingly hard to buy if you’re wanting to switch over. Hopefully, if this refreshed model launches soon, supply will drastically improve.
It’s also worth noting that Walmart typically doesn’t formally announce new Onn devices. There’s a good chance these two new streamers could quietly appear on its website at any point over the next few months.
