Summary
- I often watch TV shows and podcasts in the shower (yes, you read that correctly).
- The PROfezzion magnetic suction shower makes this easier by holding and pivoting my iPhone 16 Pro and Pixel 10 firmly in place.
- The mount features strong magnetic grip and locking suction. I’ve been using it for a week, and it hasn’t at all.
I watch and listen to a lot of content in the shower, ranging from podcasts and videos on YouTube, to TV shows like South Park and Dexter: Resurrection.
With a two-month-old, it’s rare that I find the time to actually sit down and catch up on content. If I’m not working, I’m changing diapers, feeding my son, washing bottles, or doing my best to entertain him. I’ll occasionally watch something in the evening, but that’s rare these days. The secret life hack I’ve uncovered is propping my smartphone up in the shower and consuming content while I bask in the glory of warm water. It might sound a little odd, but I’ve found showering while watching South Park skewer Donald Trump in the most brutal way imaginable, surprisingly relaxing.
It’s a brief moment of quiet I’ve grown to really appreciate over the past few weeks in my increasingly busy life, and it’s allowed me to stay on top of my video and podcsat backlog in short, consistent bursts.
Since picking up this habit, one of the key issues I’ve encountered is that my shower caddy doesn’t work well for propping up my iPhone 16 Pro, causing it to occasionally fall. I tried maneuvering it against shampoo bottles with the help of my trusty MagSafe PopSocket, but even that didn’t really work consistently. This led me to fall down a research hole hunting down a magnetic mount with a suction cup, a product I assumed didn’t actually exist.
This shower mount works surprisingly well
It’s silly, but I really appreciate the convenience
To my surprise, there are dozens of magnetic smartphone shower mounts on Amazon. I ultimately landed on the PROfezzion Magnetic Shower Mirror Phone Holder, in part because it looked pretty solid, but also because its name is ridiculous. How could I resist a product from a company called PROfezzion?
The mount isn’t officially MagSafe-certified, but its built-in magnet still feels strong, and it firmly attaches to my iPhone 16 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro (thanks PixelSnap). I was a little concerned the suction cup wouldn’t attach to the shower’s tiles, causing my smartphone to tumble into the bathtub. Thankfully, it’s very firm and even includes a lever that locks it in place. The only time I’ve been able to move it is if I pop it on the tile when it’s wet, which I attempted when I set it up for the first time.
There’s even a pivot ball head that lets me angle PROfezzion’s shower mount perfectly so that I can see the screen without my glasses or contacts in. The only issue I’ve encountered so far is ensuring that the mount is positioned far enough away from the stream of water to prevent my smartphone from getting wet (IP68 water and dust resistance only goes so far). Once I figured out the correct angle and distance, I was good to set it and forget it.
I know this accessory is a bit silly and that I definitely don’t need to be watching content in the shower (I stare at a screen all day for work and should probably be giving my brain a break).
If you’re concerned that the weight of your smartphone might make the mount fall, that hasn’t been an issue for me. After a week of using the shower mount with the iPhone16 Pro and Pixel 10, it hasn’t come close to tumbling once.
I know this accessory is a bit silly and that I definitely don’t need to be watching content in the shower (I stare at a screen all day for work and should probably be giving my brain a break), but if you’re as content addicted as I am, you’ll probably appreciate PROfezzion Magnetic Shower Mirror Phone Holder, too.
