How Recruiters Steal Your Best People: Overloading Them
Recruiters don’t steal your best people. You lose them. I know you don’t want to hear that. You want to think that nefarious evil recruiter is stealing them? They’re not. You’re losing them.
One of the ways you lose them is at review time. At review time, which coincides with their work anniversary, usually, a manager sits down with their subordinate, and basically gives them a verbal beating. There’s very little love that’s offered. There’s very little in terms of things that they’ve done well, because those slides by. People forget about them; they ignore them, and instead focus on mistakes.
You gotta show him some love. You got to show that they did some good things. Yeah, there are a couple of things they can improve upon, but heck overall, it’s a great performance.
People want to feel like you care. And if all that happens is you dump on them, you’ll lose them
