In a collaboration with eyeglass maker Oakley, Meta has just announced an all-new series of AI-powered spectacles called the Oakley Meta HSTN. These smart glasses are endowed with Oakley’s signature design, while also featuring several tech enhancements over the existing Meta Ray-Ban glasses. The HSTN lineup consists of six models with bespoke frame and color combinations, while a Limited Edition pair with gold accents and 24K PRISM Polar lenses will also be made available at launch.
“Oakley Meta glasses are a new product line that will combine Oakley’s signature design DNA with Meta’s industry-leading technology to give you deeper insights into your physical capabilities and help you share your biggest wins—on and off the field. The line will launch in a new global campaign starring Team Oakley athletes: World Cup winner Kylian Mbappé and three-time Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes,” says Meta in a blog post.
In particular, the Oakley Meta HSTN line of glasses feature a battery life of up to eight hours during typical use and up to nineteen hours while in standby. The charging case, which comes with the product, offers up to forty-eight hours of charging. Other key tech specs include an IPX4 water resistance rating, a front-facing camera capable of shooting in Ultra HD (3K) video resolution, and acces to Meta AI right out of the box.
The Oakley Meta HSTN line will be available in several countries at launch, including the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, and Australia. Pre-orders for the LImited-Edition HSTN model open on July 11 in the US, with an MSRP of $500. According to Meta, the rest of the collection will be making its way onto store shelves later this summer, with a starting price of $400.

Meta Ray-Ban 2024 review: Meta AI becomes an integral tool
While not perfect, Meta Ray-Ban is the best pair of smart glasses I’ve used this year.
The Ray-Ban Meta glasses have proven quite popular
Pocket-lint / Meta / Oakley
Over the past couple of years, Meta has found success in the smart glasses space. Its popular Ray-Ban Meta glasses have proven to be a stylish entryway into the world of Meta’s in-house AI system, with a relatively approachable $300 starting price point. While not featuring fancy augmented reality (AR), spatial computing, or hand-tracking technologies, the mix of designer frames, a lightweight design, and a snazzy charging case have made them appealing on a mass-market scale.
With the Oakley Meta HSTN, the tech giant appears to be attempting to emulate its previous success by teaming up with another well-known designer eyewear brand. The updated specs look promising, though they do come at a $100 price bump over the Ray-Ban Meta model. The sporty vibe of the Oakley series, along with a global marketing campaign featuring elite-level athletes, appears to position these new glasses as a higher-end wearable alternative, perhaps analogous to today’s Ultra-branded smartwatches.
