The flashlight on your Pixel is a handy feature you probably don’t think about much, since it’s always there when you need it. If you’re like me, you might only use it during a power outage or when grabbing a late-night snack. Recently, however, some Pixel 10 Pro owners have raised serious concerns about what can happen if the flashlight is left on for too long and generates too much heat, with reports that it can actually damage the flash lens if you’re not careful.
These reports about the Pixel 10 Pro’s flashlight come from a few recent Reddit threads, where multiple users have reported that the phone’s flash lens seems to have a burn mark in the middle after using it.
One Pixel 10 XL owner recently faced this issue and posted a photo on Reddit showing what appears to be a burn mark on the flash lens, with a clear dark spot in the middle, while the surrounding diffuser appeared to remain intact. You can check out the image below.
According to the Redditor, they smelled smoke and looked for the source, only to realize they had accidentally left their Pixel 10 Pro XL’s flashlight on after they set it down. When they finally turned it off, they noticed not just a burn mark on the flash lens, but also a tiny hole scorched into the keyboard rest where the phone had been sitting.

Don’t worry too much if you have a Pixel
It’s important to note that while there are multiple reports about the Pixel 10 Pro flashlight having a burn mark in the middle, not all of these posts include an image, and not all explain how it happened. For now, it’s hard to confirm whether the flashlight actually damaged the flash lens, and it’s an extremely isolated incident.
However, as Android Authority pointed out, some users may also mistake a burn mark on their Pixel 10 Pro’s flash lens for its LED emitter, which is a small orange dot at the center of the flash lens. Though it’s still possible that, for some users, leaving the flashlight on too long has damaged this emitter by generating excessive heat, making it look more like a burn mark.
Currently, this seems to be a rare issue affecting the Pixel 10 Pro, with no reports of it happening on other Pixel models. If you have a Pixel, I wouldn’t stress too much about it, and the best thing you can do is be cautious when using the flashlight and avoid leaving it on for long periods or when your phone is already hot.
