Shawn Hatosy is ready to pull some double duty in the E.R.
Following The Pitt‘s massive success with fans, the actor—who plays Dr. Jack Abbot on the HBO Max medical drama—revealed if he’d be down to star in a TV spinoff following the fictional Pittsburgh hospital’s nighttime staff.
“There’s been a lot of talk about the night shift,” Hatosy told People in an interview published April 3. “That would be really cool. We could do some cool, interesting things with the tone of the show.”
In fact, the Emmy winner thinks diving into the world of overnight emergencies would offer fans a broad new spectrum of patient problems and out-of-the-box injuries.
As Hatosy noted, “Dr. Abbot chose the night shift because it’s a certain kind of group of misfits that work together at night.”
For now, fans will continue seeing Dr. Abbot putting in overtime helping the daytime team of attending physicians—including Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle), Dr. Langdon (Patrick Ball), Dr. Al-Hashimi (Sepideh Moafi), Charge Nurse Evans (Katherine LaNasa) and many more—at the beginnings and ends of their rotations.
