The Nintendo Switch 2 still costs $450 and pre-orders now start April 24

Summary

  • Nintendo has announced a new Switch 2 pre-order date: April 24.
  • The Switch 2 is still priced at $449.99, but the cost of accessories has increased.
  • The console’s pre-order date was initially delayed due to the Trump administration’s tariffs.

After a brief delay, Nintendo has announced a new Switch 2 pre-order date: April 24.

Along with the pre-order date reveal, Nintendo has confirmed that the Switch 2 will still cost $449.99 in the US despite concerns surrounding the Trump administration’s tariff policy potentially increasing the console’s price. The Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle also still costs $499.99. However, the Japanese gaming giant says the Switch 2’s accessories will be more expensive, including the Joy-Con 2 (now $94.99/was $89.99), the Switch 2 Pro Controller (now $79.99/was $84.99), and the Switch 2 camera (now $54.99/$49.99).

This minor increase in accessory pricing is likely an effort on Nintendo’s part to offset the potential impact of tariffs. It doesn’t currently look like Switch 2 games like Mario Kart World ($79.99) and Donkey Kong Bananza ($69.99) will cost more.
