The Lucas Museum of Narrative Arts in Los Angeles, designed by MAD Architects, introduces a surreal new silhouette to Exposition Park. Floating above the ground on slender supports, the five-story structure resembles a spaceship or cloud in motion. Its 300,000-square-foot footprint includes 100,000 square feet of public and gallery space, all wrapped in curved fiberglass-reinforced panels that reflect light and suggest fluid movement. A massive oculus and tunnel-like entry emphasize its otherworldly aesthetic, while the 11-acre green roof and landscaped plaza root it back into the urban parkland.

Beyond its dramatic shape, the museum prioritizes sustainability and community. Rooftop solar, passive cooling, and geothermal systems support energy efficiency. Inside, flexible spaces house exhibitions, theaters, classrooms, and dining. Designed to showcase storytelling in all forms, the building doubles as both a cultural destination and an architectural icon. The Lucas Museum of Narrative Arts is set to open in 2026, offering a bold new vision for what museums can be.
