The paperboard, Natural White Board, is reported to reduce the carbon footprint of the packaging by up to 14% and was created in partnership with Stora Enso. The material is reported to offer all the same functionality and protection of the standard white board from Elopak, but with a decidedly more sustainable profile. The specialized process used to finish the board gives it a smooth outer surface that performs the same as traditional clay coating, while also enabling the reduction of polyethylene plastic coating.
Executive Vice President of Product and Development Uwe Schulze spoke on the Elopak paperboard saying, “Drawing upon decades of innovation, the Pure-Pak carton remains iconic in fiber-based packaging. With the introduction of the Natural White Board, customers can further improve their carbon footprint significantly. This latest innovation empowers our customers to choose a more sustainable packaging solution while still benefitting from traditional white paperboard that offers greater design flexibility and stands out on the supermarket shelves.”
