Sun-Lit Kite-Inspired Lights : Cygnet light

Designer Michael Anastassiades has introduced his Cygney light, which is made from Japanese washi paper. The inspiration stems from his childhood memories of flying kites and was a part of the Jacqueline Vodoz and Bruno Danese Foundation exhibition in Milan. The lights were unveiled along with two new designs by Michael Anastassiades: the Frame and Floor Mobile Chandelier.

Anastassiades explains the design process to Dezeen, “I was absolutely obsessed with flying kites as high as they could possibly fly. And then there was a moment when you could no longer see the kite, you would lose it in the sky,” he added. “It’s playing with the wind and then the sun hits it and you see it glow. [The Cygnet] is about capturing that moment.”
