Feeling flat, unmotivated, or just stuck in a funk? We’ve all been there! This #short reveals a surprisingly simple way to pull yourself out. Discover how tiny accomplishments can boost your mood and get you back on track.
3 Effective Ways to Handle Rejection During An Executive Job Search
If your job search is going nowhere, if you’re getting interviews and getting ghosted, if you’re sending out resumes and getting no results, it’d be natural for you to develop a case of stinking thinking, poor attitude, get into a funk. However you want to describe it, it’d be natural for that to happen, but it’s important to pull yourself out of it. And I’ve been doing a number of shorts covering ways of doing it. Here’s another way: start stacking up some small wins, some small victories.
Maybe you reach out to someone from your past, you know, someone who lives in your phone that you haven’t spoken to in a long time, and send them a text and just check in with them. “Hi, how are you? It feels like a hundred years since we were last in touch.” And start exchanging in a conversation and let them know what’s going on with you and just simply say, “Look, if you see anything for me on LinkedIn or elsewhere, please just forward it to me or tag me on LinkedIn so this way I can follow up on it”.
Getting Past the No’s
Maybe it’s you send out a resume for a position that you’re overqualified for, not by a lot but by a little bit, and thus you get an interview from that. Maybe you post something on LinkedIn, something inspirational, and tag some people that you know, and then you engage in a conversation. Or maybe post something about an accomplishment that you had and then from there close out the sentence or close out the post by saying, “You know, I’d like to do more of this kind of work. If you know about work like this that I could be doing, reach out to me through DM and let me know who to contact and whether I should mention your name”.
There’s lots of little ways that you can stack on a win, and small victories done over time will start to yield huge results. I’ve got a lot more on job leads available for you at jobsearch.com community. Go over to the site, I’ve got stuff that you can download for free and become an insider.
