Chinese design firm DoDesign has created the Drifting Stones pavilion resting on top of a rocky site in Chongqing. Just around a stepped roof of imitation stone shows off a panoramic viewing space. The studio wanted to create something that would entice visitors with its dramatic landscape.

It boasts stone-like elements at the roof with steel frames hidden with poured cement and local stone powder. DoDesign partner Zhengmeng Dong explained more on the design, “The design was not pre-planned but emerged from a spontaneous connection with a specific site feature. This intuitive, responsive process set the tone for the entire project. The design seeks to evoke extraordinary nature through immersive spatial experiences that inspire visitors to observe and connect with their environment on a deeper level.”
