Spider-Noir won’t be on Disney+, but it will be in 2 other places

If you’re a fan of the Spider-Verse, listen up: The much-anticipated new spin-off series Spider-Noir is coming to TV screens in just a few months. While you might be expecting a new Marvel TV show to be premiering on Disney+ or Hulu, this show won’t be coming to either of those services, as it is being produced and developed by Sony Pictures Television in association with Amazon MGM Studios.

The 8-episode series is a spin-off of 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider Verse and will have Nicholas Cage reprising his role as Ben Reilly / The Spider, an aging private investigator and superhero in 1930s New York City. However, instead of being presented in animated format, this series will be presented in live action. And interestingly, it will be released in two versions:

“True-Hue Full Color” and “Authentic Black & White.” You can watch trailers featuring both aesthetics below:

How to stream Spider-Noir

You can watch it this May on broadcast as well as Amazon Prime Video

Interestingly, Spider-Noir will have its world premiere on MGM+’s linear broadcast channel on May 25, meaning those with cable or powerful digital antennas can watch this series without a streaming subscription. Following its debut, the entire 8-episode series will drop all at once globally on Amazon Prime Video on May 27.

The series will not be available to rent or purchase via other services like Apple TV or Fandango at Home. You must be either an Amazon Prime Video subscriber or have access to the MGM+ TV channel in order to watch it when it is released.

Will Spider-Noir ever be released on Disney+

It seems unlikely, but anything is possible

You may be used to seeing Spider-Man TV shows and movies like The Amazing Spider-Man, Across the Spider-Verse and even the Venom series on Disney+ and Hulu thanks to a partnership the streamer with Sony several years ago. However, because this new project is being developed directly withAmazon MGM studios, it seems less likely that Amazon will cut a deal with Disney+ since, unlike Sony, they have their own major streaming service.

Of course, anything is possible, as Amazon did just release the first season of their mega-hit series Fallout for free on YouTube, but barring any marketing stunts if Spider-Noir ends up being a hit for Amazon, it seems likely that they’ll want to keep it exclusive to their platform.
