Korean designer Juyong Shim has designed a new show unveiled at SaloneSatellite — NEW CRAFTMANSHIP: A NEW WORLD displayed during this year’s Milan Design Week. The installation highlights the Horn Series, which is a capsule of furniture made using repurposed speaker elements. Shim reimagines the structural identity of the speaker’s horn by giving it a new purpose. Artfully so, the results merge functionality with artful expression.
The Horn Series brings attention to how material memory can continue to exist beyond its original function. This way, it transforms industrial equipment into objects that can be used in everyday life. The show features stools, selling units, light, tables, and more. There, the speaker’s horns, housing, and frames make up the visual elements.
