Pennyroyal Tea, a residential project by Multitude of Sins (MOS), exemplifies a harmonious fusion of sustainable design, artisanal craftsmanship, and cultural preservation. Nestled along Tamil Nadu’s eastern coast, this home transcends conventional architecture by integrating locally sourced materials, custom-made furnishings, and traditional techniques.
The two-and-a-half-year construction process involved over 200 skilled artisans from across India, ensuring that nearly 80% of the interior elements — from mosaic flooring to brass fixtures — were handcrafted specifically for the space. This approach not only reduced waste and minimized carbon emissions but also supported regional craftsmanship.
For the Pennyroyal Tea project, Multitude of Sins emphasized natural, non-toxic materials like solid wood and stone to enhance indoor air quality. The development serves as an inspiring case study in how modern design can honor heritage while advancing sustainability.
