VMA Design Studio presents a striking sculptural hostel design concept in Bangkok. The Double B Hostel is positioned as a thoughtful synthesis of traditional Thai craftsmanship and contemporary architectural innovation in the city’s historic old town district.

The 27-room boutique hostel ingeniously transforms a challenging, narrow urban plot into a light-filled sanctuary through its signature flowing wooden facade that cascades from exterior to interior spaces. By creating a central courtyard topped with a glass roof, the designers solved the critical challenge of bringing natural illumination into the dense urban site while establishing an inviting communal heart for the hostel. The undulating timber surfaces, crafted using locally adapted construction techniques that combine computational design with artisanal wood-bending methods, serve as both an aesthetic statement and a functional element.
