Czech design studio Ika Architekti designed the Upcycled Sauna, which is a small structure resting under an apple tree in a garden. The structure measures four square meters and it is actually in the garden of the Ika Architekti’s co-founder Tomás Dvořák. The sauna is a personal project which terms from the studio’s dedication of working sustainably and he has the “desire to build something with our own hands instead of just clicking and answering emails.”
Ika Architekti explains the design process, “This is what happens when you scroll through second-hand websites and when you love collecting materials that might still come in handy. It might sound like hoarding, but when you’re also an architect, you suddenly have a lot of great stuff to build with – and that’s exactly how we sometimes spend our free weekends as architects.”
