The upcoming Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remakes represent a reimagining of the first two titles in the long-running Dragon Quest series. Scheduled for release on October 30, 2025, the remakes are designed to combine the classic turn-based gameplay with modern graphical enhancements. Utilizing the HD-2D visual style—which blends three-dimensional rendering with retro pixel art elements—the project aims to deliver a visually updated experience while maintaining the series’ traditional narrative structure and role-playing mechanics. The package unifies the remakes of both games, thereby reinforcing the historical significance of the titles in shaping the Japanese role-playing game genre.

The remake is being developed with cross-platform support in mind, with plans for release on PC (via Steam and the Microsoft Store), PlayStation 5, Switch, and Xbox Series X/S, among other platforms. In addition to the standard edition, a collector’s edition is planned; this edition will include physical merchandise and pre‑order bonuses as specified by the publisher. The project reflects an effort to preserve and modernize the classic narrative and gameplay elements that have contributed to the Dragon Quest legacy, positioning the remakes as a bridge between the traditional JRPG experience and contemporary gaming technology.
