The Kindle Scribe and Kobo Libra Colour are two of the most popular E Ink note-taking devices out there, but in recent years, reMarkable has released some impressive E Ink tablets that have given them serious competition, including the reMarkable 2, Paper Pro, and, most recently, the Paper Pro Move.
That said, unlike Kobo and Kindle, reMarkable has never quite offered an entry-level device before. Its cheapest option is still the reMarkable 2 at $400. But that finally might be about to change.
Evan Blass, a well-known tech leaker, recently shared on X that reMarkable’s next tablet will be called the “reMarkable Paper Pure” and is expected to launch sometime in the second quarter of this year (between April and June).
What makes the reMarkable Paper Pure especially interesting is that Blass says it will be “more mass-market focused” compared to the Paper Pro and Paper Pro Move. In other words, reMarkable could be aiming for the Paper Pure to reach a much broader demographic, possibly at a lower price than we’ve ever seen from them.

Its lower price will likely come with trade-offs
The exact details and specs of the reMarkable Paper Pure are still unknown, but according to Good E Reader, it could be priced between $250 and $300. That would put it in the same ballpark as the Kobo Libra Colour ($200) and the previous-generation Kindle Scribe, which currently sells for $400 on Amazon but has gone on sale for under $300 in the past.
With a lower price tag, the Paper Pure will likely come with some trade-offs to keep costs down. Reports suggest it may feature a smaller black-and-white screen, a smaller battery, less RAM, and a less powerful processor than the Paper Pro and Paper Pro Move.
For context, the Paper Pro Move was reMarkable’s last tablet release. It’s essentially a compact version of the Paper Pro, with a 7.3-inch display that easily fits in your pocket, compared to the 11.8-inch Paper Pro, which is more like a full notebook. The Paper Pro Move costs $450, which is a tad more expensive than the new Kindle Scribe without a front light, which costs $430 and launches soon.
Of course, the Paper Pure is still just a leak, so it’s best to take this information with a grain of salt for now. It’s entirely possible that reMarkable decides to call it something else or release it later in the year. Though if the rumors are to be believed, we could see it debut sometime this spring, so hopefully the wait to see it fully revealed won’t be too much longer.
